The Ghost of an American Airman

3 March 2021 (Updated 9 September 2021)

Although the land is now used for agriculture, this site used to be the home to RAF Grove, a military airbase that housed both British and American airmen during World War II.

Between 1955 and 1995 the old buildings on the site were owned and used by the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA).

One particular old aircraft hanger is supposed to be haunted by the ghost of an American airman who hanged himself in the hanger during the war.

Employees of the UKAEA reported hearing voices talking in the empty hanger at times when site security reported that the whole airfield was otherwise deserted.
